COVER THOSE MISTAKES TUTORIAL for OFF THE RAILS:

Hey there! I've got a tutorial up at OFF THE RAILS:
Thought I'd show you what happened with my December DT page.
It was a journey!
I'd chosen a black and white photo, then, for me, decided to follow
the colour palette.
So.....got to this stage below.
And absolutely, categorically HATED what I'd created.
Those sort of circles around the frame were the wrong colour.
The blue and yellow blended when I didn't want them to.
GRRRRR! Doesn't happen often, but I almost tossed it in the bin.
But I decided to give it a coat of Gesso first, before I resorted to
such a drastic measure [winks!!!].
The result:
I had to pop the pen on so my camera could focus! Much better! Added
the yellow ink spray, & I like the way the texture pasted stars still show
through a little.
A refresher of my finished page:
The process really did feel like I was pulling teeth, LOL!
But I'm SOOO happy with it now! So, please, when all else fails.
 APPLY GESSO!!!!!!
There's still  a little time to join in with
this OTR challenge, too!
Thanks for looking ~ Hope this is helpful

PS: Here's a bit more of my December Daily.
Inspired by the girls at LET'S DECEMBER DAILY.
I'm up to filling the pages in the middle fold of this booklet.
Almost up to starting on the pages on the Right hand side!!
Another little booklet cos I had too much to say.
I often do, it seems;)
And I HAD to add a photo on the inside of my new 'love'.
Sure, you have to pull it out to see it.
But I know it's there!

No photos for a change above.
But Lucas is so cute, I couldn't resist
a couple on his last day of 2015 with us
below:
Enjoyed doing that sort of 'ad lib' journaling!
This is a PL card done on my Becky Higgins iphone app,
then printed out....
added a few other bits, of course;)
I think you're probably over my DD pages,
so that will do!
I quite enjoyed doing one.
But not sure I'll do it again, as I felt like
I was repeating what goes into my PL album....
so, adieu 'til next year.....
&
OF COURSE...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

SCRAP AROUND THE WORLD ~ DECEMBER ~ LAST CHALLENGE EVER!

I'm sure most of you scrappy peeps will already know that
SCRAP AROUND THE WORLD is closing up shop.
Of course, you probably also know that some of the DT girls are
starting up a new blog called MORE THAN WORDS.
Along with lots of others, I've found time to join in with the
'swan song' over at SATW.
A BIG thank you for the amazing
inspiration you have provided!
From the mood board I've taken the pink, gold & the saying.
It seems a bit weird, because as a member of the DUSTY ATTIC DT,
who are sponsoring this month, I also got to create a LO
as well!
Anyways:
This wee family are just starting their life journey together &
I thought that saying worked so well for them:)
And a few more close ups:
The heart & pure bliss tag are from JO R...thank you for those lovely goodies!
That is gold washi from our 'dollar' shop!
This is a wood cut title I've painted gold above,
from Mitra - mwah!
Not a Christmas page, but lots of sparkle and love on it!!
Thanks for checking this one out...hope y'all are recovering nicely
from the Big Christmas Days!!! Look out New Year ~ not long to go!
Blessings ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

DUSTY ATTIC STENCILS:

Good day to y'all!
Today I'd like to share some cards I've created using the left over
stenciling I did using some of the DUSTY ATTIC STENCILS.
For how I did this take a peek HERE.
Here's a photo to remind you of the backgrounds
I previously created:
 CARD #1:
I layered the ORNAMENTAL TRIM SET over part of the LACEY NAME PLATE
that I cut in half. I've coloured all the chippy with my
Pitt Artist big pen, then added some Dusty Attic Paint
'Vintage Gold' over top:
And a closie:

CARD #2:
The background is created using Dusty Attic Paints in Pesto, Bisque
I've also used the WORD DISKS #1 saying 'just because'.
And the FOLIAGE #3 worked behind the flower:

CARD #3:
For my last card, I'd run out of left over backgrounds!
So I thought I'd use ink pads with a sponge over some layered stencils.
As a rule of thumb, they say to start with larger stencils and lighter colours,
then work smaller and darker. So that's what I did here.
Started with the FLOWER BURST stencil.....
...added the CONFETTI stencil, then lastly the CUTE DRAGONFLIES one:
I couldn't go past those BIRDS ON A BRANCH #4
[simply cut some off the longer strip of them],
then figured they looked like they ought to be saying 'hello'!!!
So I grabbed this chippy from the SPEECH BUBBLES pack...
Isn't it gorgeous??!!!
I hope you can see how much FUN and versatile stencils can be...
& the Dusty Attic ones are fabulous quality AND very reasonably priced!
This is my last post for Dusty Attic ~
my year on the team is up & I must say, it's been a Growing, and Rewarding
experience, learning to 'play' with chipboard
in a much more confident way!
It's a fabulous bunch of girls that I got to play with, too:):)
Big thanks, especially, to the "Two Jen's" that keep the show on the road!
Cheers for now ~ Happy Scrapping!

ANOTHER FREAKING SCRAPPY CHALLENGE ~ DECEMBER ~ & more DECEMBER DAILY:

The challenge for journaling [on your page]
about a 'Christmas past' is up at
My LO:
Very CAS for me, eh? I wanted the heat & dry embossing
on the baubles to 'shine'...... some older papers, too:

Neat huh??!!!

And a little bit more of my December Daily.
Linking with LET'S DECEMBER DAILY.
Another flip opening on the green side.
And it turned out green cos I SMUDGED the ink!
Below open:
And then the next 2 days.
Finally a day with no photo on the left!
The star on the 17th opens to reveal this:
And our Fridays with the Grand Boy:
I simply added washi for the hinge!
And star washi to back the photo.
I think I'll add some extra bits on the orange pp. too.
Looks a bit empty. Can't have that!!!!
This, like most of my posts, is scheduled.
So, hoping you had a LOVELY Christmas Day yesterday,
& can relax & eat left overs today:)

GUEST DESIGNER at SCRAP AROUND THE WORLD:

Yup. That's right! Since DUSTY ATTIC is a prize sponsor this month,
us Dusty A girls get to join in the fun with some inspiration for the challenge:
Isn't it LOVERLY?
I had a BALL doing this one. And it came together really easily.
Love it when that happens!
I've used some of the newer chippies. LOVE this delicate
hanging one.... painted with a Sharpie white pen. I've used lots
of bg work - stamps, inks, nail polish [the green], Glimmer Glaze,
stickers, sequins and little plastic star beads.
Since this LO is all about LOVE and a little girl, I thought this
love bottle fitted the bill to perfection!
As did these mini Mason Jars. Added some gold from the mood board
& stamped on the hearts and 'love' words. The lids have been heat
embossed.
And a bit more gold. I started off with gold glitter over white
paint, but it just didn't look right. So I've heat embossed it & I preferred
it much better that way!
My [step] great grand girl!
Of course, SATW have some wonderful prizes up for grabs.
And a corker of a mood board.
And it's their LAST challenge before the site closes for good.
Happy Scrapping, now ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

SCRAP IT WITH A SONG ~ DECEMBER:

Hi there! The lovely gang over at SCRAP IT WITH A SONG
have an easy peasy ROCK SONG to join in with ~ So I did, using
the words 'now and forever' from 'For the rest of my Life':
Thought I'd pop the 'out-take' and 'nice' photo of the family announcing
the imminent arrival of #5 of the family on a LO. Hence the 'high five' above
makes more sense, yes?
I've use a new numbers Funky Flair besides an older one from 3rd Eye that
unfortunately no longer exist.
Mitra sent me that fun 'fun' word [??!!!] & the 'card' is cut from Scraptastic
card stock. I wish it didn't cost so much to get it posted to
Australia ~ Otherwise I would most deffo order their kits!
The arrow I've created then cut with my Bro Scan N Cut....I thought this was a
fun way of journaling about this next bubba. And the whole page:
There's some neat prizes up for grabs at SCRAP IT WITH A SONG
this month, too..... hope you can join in!!!
Cheers ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

LASTING MEMORIES #4 Challenge ~ December 2016:

Last, last, lucky last of my Guest Designer LOs
for LASTING MEMORIES.....
I've enjoyed the ride immensely!
This challenge is celebrating MAKE CUT OUT SNOWFLAKES
DAY! Seriously. Well, fussy cutting I did NOT!
My Brother Scan'n'Cut came out to play.
Then I used said snow flakes for a stencil. Seems WEIRD
doing a winter page - but I guess 1/2 the world IS in winter atm!
Thought I'd get my MM on for this one!
Used Dusty Attic texture paste, dabbing around the stencil with
some plastic, then added heat embossing over the top, randomly!
I am so happy my sewing machine has decided it will zig zag again,
after a couple of years break!!!
The stars have all been coated in white nail polish.
I'm sure you're surprised by that - not!!!

Thanks for looking and for following my adventures at LASTING MEMORIES.
Happy Scrapping ~ Lizzy ♥♥♥

NB: AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, I TEND TO WORK AHEAD
FOR ANY SCRAPPY WORK I'M GIVEN.
SINCE I CREATED THESE PAGES, THE CHALLENGES
HAVE BEEN ALTERED SLIGHTLY FOR A FESTIVE SLANT.
All the latest info can be found over at
LASTING MEMORIES!
